To change the directory in which File Manager opens, perform the following steps:
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (File Manager) from Files section.
3 – Click Settings to open the Preferences window.
4 – Select Web Root (public_html or www) for the most direct route to your files, or select another option to open the File Manager interface in that directory.
5 – Click Save.

To create a new file or folder, perform the following steps:
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (File Manager) from Files section.
3 – Click + File or + Folder in the File Manager toolbar. A new window will appear.
4 – Enter the new item’s name in the New File Name: or New Folder Name: text box.
5 – Enter the location in which the system will save the item in the New file will be created in: or New folder will be created in: text box.
6 – Click Create New File or Create New Folder.

To rename a folder or file, click the item’s name and enter the new name in the text box. Press the Return key to save the change.

To move a file into a folder, perform the following steps:
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (File Manager) from Files section.
3 – Click Move in the tool bar at the top of the interface. The New File window will appear.
4 – Enter the file path that you want to move the file to in the Enter the file path that you want to move this file to: text box.
5 – Click Move File(s) to move the file.

To copy a file, perform the following steps:
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (File Manager) from Files section.
3 – Select the file you want to copy.
4 – Click Copy from the tool bar at the top of the interface. The Copy window will appear.
5 – In the Copy window, enter the file path for which you want to save the item.
6 – Click Copy File(s) to copy the file.

To copy multiple files, perform the following steps:
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (File Manager) from Files section.
3 – To copy several items, hold the Shift key while you select the items.
4 – Select Copy from the tool bar. The Copy window will appear.
5 – Enter the file path to which to copy the files in the Enter the file path that you want to copy this file to: text box.
6 – Click Copy File(s) to copy the files.

To modify a file or folder’s permissions, perform the following steps:
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (File Manager) from Files section.
3 – Select the file or folder for which to change the permissions.
4 – From the toolbar, click Permissions. The Change Permissions window will appear.
5 – Use the checkboxes or text boxes to change the item’s permissions. This setting’s permissions default to 0644.
6 – Click Change Permissions to save your changes.

To delete a file or folder, perform the following steps:
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (File Manager) from Files section.
3 – Select the file or folder you want to delete.
4 – From the toolbar, click Delete. The Trash window will appear.
5 – Click Trash File(s) to confirm that you want to delete the file or folder.

To restore a file or folder, perform the following steps:
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (File Manager) from Files section.
3 – Click View Trash from the toolbar.
4 – Select the file or folder that you want to restore.
5 – Click Restore in the toolbar.
6 – Confirm that you want to restore the item.

To search for a file, perform the following steps:
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (File Manager) from Files section.
3 – Use the Search menu to select the directory to search the following options:
– All Your Files – only public_html – Current Directory.
4 – Enter the desired file name in the text box.

The Images interface allows you to modify and manage images that you saved to your account. This feature includes the following tools:

1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (Images) from Files section.
3 – choose from following option:

* Thumbnailer — Use this tool to create thumbnails from images in a directory and store them in a thumbnails subdirectory.

* Scaler — Use this tool to resize individual images.

* Converter — Use this tool to convert one image file type to another file type and change the file type of all images in a directory. For example, you can change .jpg files to .png files.

This feature allows you to protect specific directories in your cPanel account’s files. If you enable this feature, the system prompts users to log in when they attempt to view a protected folder.

To use this interface, you must first select a directory to manage.
– To select a directory, click the desired directory’s name.
– To view and select subdirectories, click the parent directory’s folder icon. Then, click the desired subdirectory name.

To password protect the selected directory, perform the following steps:
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (Directory Privacy) from Files section.
3 – select subdirectories.
4 – Select the Password protect this directory checkbox.
5 – Enter a display label for the directory in the Enter a name for the protected directory text box.
6 – Click Save. A confirmation message will appear. Click Go Back to return to the directory’s configuration.

To create an authorized user for the selected directory, perform the following steps:
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (Directory Privacy) from Files section.
3 – select subdirectories.
4 – Enter the desired username in the Username text box.
5 – Enter and confirm the new password in the appropriate text boxes.
6 – Click Save. A confirmation message will appear. Click Go Back to return to the directory’s configuration.

This interface displays information about how you use your account’s disk space, and all of your home directory’s subdirectories. It also helps you manage your disk space quota, because it displays files and directories that use large amounts of hard disk space.

This interface displays the following disk space usage summaries:
– Files that your home directory contains.
– Files that exist in hidden subdirectories.

Use the Web Disk interface to manage your Web Disk accounts. The Web Disk utility allows you to manage and manipulate files on your server in multiple types of interfaces.

Main Web Disk Account
By default, the system creates a Web Disk account for your cPanel account, and sets your home directory as the Web Disk location. This account uses the same login information as your cPanel account and can access all of the files in your home directory. You cannot delete this Web Disk account.
– To access this account’s files, click Access Web Disk.
– If you use Windows® Vista, Windows® 7, or Windows® 8, click Enable Digest Authentication to enable Digest Authentication, or click Disable Digest Authentication to disable it.

To create an additional Web Disk account, perform the following steps:
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (Web Disk) from Files section.
3 – Enter the desired account information in the available text boxes.
* – When you enter a username, you can select a domain or subdomain from the menu if your account includes more than one domain or subdomain.
* – Enter and confirm the new password in the appropriate text boxes.
4 – Select a Permissions setting:
* – Read-Write — This setting grants this account access to all of the operations inside the directory.
* – Read-Only — This setting only grants this account access to read, download, and list the files inside the directory.
5 – If you use Windows® Vista, Windows® 7, or Windows® 8, select the Enable Digest Authentication checkbox.
6 – Click Create. A new interface will appear.

You can use this interface to create and manage your website’s File Transfer Protocol (FTP) accounts. FTP allows you to manage your website’s files.

Add FTP Account
To create an FTP account, perform the following steps:

2 – Click on (FTP Accounts) from Files section.
3 – Enter the desired username in the Log In text box.
4 – Enter and confirm the new password in the appropriate text boxes.

7 – Click Create FTP Account. The new account will appear in the FTP Accounts table.

The FTP Accounts table allows you to manage existing FTP accounts.

To change an FTP account’s password, perform the following steps:
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (FTP Accounts) from Files section.
3 – Click Change Password for the FTP account for which you wish to change the password.
4 – Enter and confirm the new password in the appropriate text boxes.
5 – Click Change Password.

To change an FTP account’s quota, perform the following steps:
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (FTP Accounts) from Files section.
3 – Click Change Quota for the FTP account for which you wish to change the quota.
4 – Enter the disk space quota, or select Unlimited.
5 – Click Change Quota.

To remove an FTP account, perform the following steps:
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (FTP Accounts) from Files section.
3 – Click Delete for the FTP account that you wish to remove.
4 – Click the desired deletion option:
Delete Account – Remove the FTP account only.
Delete Account and Files – Remove the FTP account and all of the files that
Cancel — Do not delete the account.

To configure an FTP client, perform the following steps:
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (FTP Accounts) from Files section.
3 – Click Configure FTP Client for the desired FTP account.
4 – Click FTP Configuration File under the desired FTP client’s logo. You can choose between Filezilla, Core FTP, or Cyberduck.
5 – Open the configuration script file that downloaded to your computer. The FTP client automatically opens, configures itself, and connects to your FTP server.

This interface displays information about current connections to your FTP server and it allows you to terminate those connections.
View current FTP sessions
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )
2 – Click on (FTP Connections) from Files section.
The interface includes the following information about connections to your FTP server:
(User, Logged in From, Login Time, Status, Disconnect & Process ID)

If you suspect malicious activity from a user, or if the user is idle, you can disconnect their FTP session.
To disconnect a user from an FTP session, perform the following steps:

1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )

2 – Click on (FTP Connections) from Files section.

3 – Click Disconnect next to the FTP session that you wish to disconnect.

4 – To verify that the server disconnected the session, click Reload.

To restore your Database Backup, perform the following steps:

2 – Click on (Backup) from Files section.

The File Restoration interface allows you to restore items from local backup files. This interface displays all of the files and directories in a backup file.
Note:
This interface only allows you to restore items from local backup files.

To restore a file, perform the following steps:
1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel ).
2 – Click on (File Restoration ) from Files section.
3 – To view a directory’s contents, click the desired directory’s name.
4 – Click the file that you wish to restore. The interface will display all locally-available backups of this file.
5 – Click Restore This Version for the desired backup of the file that you wish to restore. A confirmation message will appear.
Note:
If the file that you want to restore already exists on your account, you must select the Overwrite existing file? checkbox in order to continue the restoration. Otherwise, click Cancel.
6 – Confirm the restoration of the file.
7 – Click Restore. A success message will appear.

The Backup Wizard interface allows you to back up all or part of your website, or to restore it from the most recent backup file.
 
Back Up
You can choose to create a full backup file or a partial backup file.

To create a full backup file, perform the following steps:

1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )

2 – Click on (Backup Wizard) from Files section.

3 – From the main Backup Wizard interface, click Back Up. The Full or Partial Backup section of the interface will appear.

4 – Click Full Backup. The Download section of the interface will appear.

5 – Select one of the following destinations from the Backup Destination menu:

• Home Directory — Select this option to save the backup file on the server.
• Remote FTP Server — Select this option to use FTP to store the backup file on a remote server.
• Remote FTP Server (passive mode transfer) — Select this option to use passive FTP to store the backup file on a remote server.
• Secure Copy (SCP) — Select this option to use SCP to store the backup file on a remote server.

6 – Perform one of the following actions to configure notifications for this backup file:

• To receive a notification when the backup process finishes, enter your email address in the Email Address text box.
• To disable notifications, select the Do not send email notification of backup completion. checkbox.

7 – If you selected the Remote FTP Server, Remote FTP Server (passive mode tansfer), or Secure Copy (SCP) destinations, enter the remote destination’s information in the available text boxes.

8 – Click Generate Backup. A confirmation message will appear. Click Go Back to return to the Download section of the interface.

To back up a portion of your site, perform the following steps:

1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )

2 – Click on (Backup Wizard) from Files section.

3 – From the main Backup Wizard interface, click Back Up. The Full or Partial Backup section of the interface will appear.

4 – Click the portion of your site that you wish to back up:

• Home Directory — Back up the /home directory.
• MySQL Databases — Back up your databases.
• Email Forwarders & Filters — Back up your email forwarders or filters.

The Download section of the interface will appear.

5 – Click the desired backup file to download it.

To restore a portion of your site from an existing backup, perform the following steps:

1 – Open cPanel ( yourdomain/cpanel )

2 – Click on (Backup Wizard) from Files section.

3 – Click Restore. The Select Restore Type section of the interface will appear.

4 – Click the portion of your site that you wish to restore:

• Home Directory — Restore the /home directory.
• MySQL Databases — Restore your databases.
• Email Forwarders & Filters — Restore your email forwarders or filters.

The Restore section of the interface will appear.

5 – Click Choose File and select the desired backup file.

When you back up your home directory, the backup file includes the following files:

• All of the files that you own.
• Files that you do not own, but to which you possess access.
